ABOUT ME

McCallumDelaney092.jpg

Those who know me well will tell you I am a type-A, list maker, pro planner, D1 stressor. I have always had the mentality that it's better to choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity, but that ideology is unsustainable. I have learned how to embrace chaos through messy and mistake-driven art. Pottery is unpredictable and because of it, I have learned that failure does not make me less. Every ceramist, no matter how good, can accidentally throw something off-center or drop a vase. I feel like I am my true self when white speckles of clay are flung over my clothes and face, and I can taste the dust, and my shoes leave a white trail. My hands are cracking, and I have a fresh set of bowls in the kiln. I am disorganized and free. Making art reminds me that all that is created is valuable regardless of failure or flaw.
